This song is in by no means new, it has already had its residency on the charts, and is still keeping up with its popularity. Since leaving AOL Music I will admit I have been slow on discovering new songs, but this one I can NOT stop listening to, I think the music is awesome and Kelly really shows off her strong vocal abilities that, if as “A-List” as Beyonce would be riding high on her career instead of joining the B club. This is definitely worth a listen if you haven’t heard it yet. Check it out after the jump…

KellysDecember07: no, i had so much to say that i was feeling very creative, haha

KellysDecember07: started with around 60, then 26, now 14 for the album

KellysDecember07: just recorded all of our favorites and wanted to make sure we were focusing on the music rather than being SO concerned with trying to make everything mainstream

KellysDecember07: there’s a little bit of everything sound wise …singer/songwriter stuff, rock/pop stuff, some soulful songs
BrendanInMusic: You’ve also been involved in a few country performances lately, not too long ago with Reba and a little while back with the Rascal Flatts… is a country album something you’d want to do or just something fun to dabble in?

BrendanInMusic: now that you’ve done that and won a few… what’s your next life goal?
KellysDecember07: my goal is to be happy…a simple goal but a hard one sometimes with this crazy world, haha
KellysDecember07: i want to be happy with my music, and my relationships and life

BrendanInMusic: definitely…so your look and sound has evolved quite a bit since you started out
BrendanInMusic: is where you are now the place you’ve been working towards or was it just more of a natural evolution?
KellysDecember07: i’d say natural revolution …i love both of my previous albums but you can tell that with each album I’m in a different place …and i should be because i’m obviously growing and changing…coming out with the same album and sound would be boring for me and my fans
BrendanInMusic: So what are your fans in store for this time around with ‘My December’?
KellysDecember07: well the album as a whole is about surviving things you thought you never would, and actually taking the time to catch your breath and enjoy life
KellysDecember07: it’s a little more rock, a lot more raw and blunt, and it’s all me
BrendanInMusic: right now people are calling you the Alanis Morissette of 2007…
KellysDecember07: hahahahaha, i’m not that good,

The Grammy Awards totally sprung up on me this year! I wasn’t prepped and awards have already ben given out, 2 to both Lady Gaga and Jason Mraz (yay) and a few to the Black Eyed Peas…

As I type the BIG show doesn’t start for a half hour more but I thought I would give my own little commentary…

-Record of the Year- MAMAMAMAMAMA POOOKKERRRRR FACE. If anything else wins, it was just a pure failure from “the academy”

-Album of the Year- Again– Gaga should be taking it but with Taylor Swift and the BEP, the three all have at least 2 Grammys to start this fight.

-Song of the Year: If Poker Face doesn’t win… Swift’s You Belong to Me will take it.

-Best New Artist: I really don’t care about any of those people.

-Best Female Pop Vocal Performance: This one is tough, Pink really DESERVES this award, Beyonce or Taylor Swift may steal her glory, this one is a tough one to go at but with all of her glory Taylor Swift may get some love? (btw… Why did the Male have to be on the pre-show— I would really rather see Jason Mraz win his!!!!!!!!!)

The latest iMix has arrived, this one themed for February appropriately as a Valentines mix. I gave out the mix to folks at work and they LOVE it, I haven’t gotten such a positive response on a mix in a while. iTunes doesn’t seem to include ALL the songs, I am not sure why but the iMix has a nice selection, but missing a couple KEY songs… Look for Kris Allen’s “Falling Slowly” and grab that if you can, it is a must for this! I would love to get some ratings for my iMixes as well, so if you like them, rate them! Click on the “See All iMixes By This User” button to see the rest out there!

I am really enjoying the whole iMix thing, I am sure that no one is even paying attention, no ratings or anything, but it’s still fun to do. Every month (or more depending on my mood) I put together a “flavor of the moment” mix that I stick on for a while, the iTunes store doesn’t seem to capture ALL of the songs, but this one has 41. Check it out!

So I completely admit that I am extremely odd for liking the French Canadian artist Emily so much… really only because I don’t speak any French. Yes, that does impede me understanding ANYTHING she says, but I am a pop music junkie and I love it, so whatever. I am a full on Emily fan and her last music video was one of those artistic ones, but for some reason I thought it was really amazing, so time to share, even if you don’t get a single word of it Give it a shot! So I really got into the iMix thing, one of my favorite parts of working at AOL music was my role as Music Director for Pop radio stations which included me picking the songs, how much they would play etc. I love putting together playlists and this actually lets me do them and get them out to the public through iTunes, what can be better than that eh? Every month I do a “Flavor of the Moment” mix which usually ends up in my car and I do share with others, well here’s December’s Flavor of the Month iMix.

BTW… Perez Hilton’s taste in music is embarassing. And I can say that with credit, even with what music that I listen to!

So, anyone knows I am “obsessed” with Alanis Morissette— Alanis and the US national anthem weren’t always my favorite combo, even though she is a dual citizen. Even though the Yanks didn’t perform well, I think she did pretty damn good!

Could I be any happier? Last night on SouthPark what sounded like Mr. Eric Cartman (thought I didn’t see him in the act) did a nice little homage to Lady Gaga’s ‘Poker Face.’ Now it’s finally online in full. It’s a true piece of art… ENJOY!

A few months before releasing the song ‘Underneath’ as the first single from her album ‘Flavors of Entanglement,’ the song was used for a music video for a contest. When the song was released as a single there was another version of the video created. I personally love the original and think the ‘official’ is just EHH. I thought I’d put them up for their own battle even though I know there’s no one else paying attention! Watch after the jump…

At Kelly’s show last night in CT, which I am a complete idiot for letting it go way past my radar (what is happening to me)… she did a cover of Alanis’ “That I Would Be Good,” one of my favorite Alanis songs, and of course was awesome Kelly style.

I am not sure what’s going on with all these pop kids covering Alanis lately? Beyonce, the shocker of Britney and now my Kelly! I am liking this trend… Alanis… come on, you can be relevant! DO IT! Watch and love…

I was floored months ago when Beyonce added a cover of Alanis’ ‘You Oughta Know’ to her tour. The song that threw Alanis onto the musical map to sell 40 million of ‘Jagged Little Pill’ made its way back to relevance from 1995 to 2009. I was glad that there’s still some Alanis love around! When I woke up this morning, I relived this all over again, but in a much higher level. Britney Spears, in a rare rare rare instance of singing live at her concert did a very random action and sang ‘You Oughta Know’ too! Two of pops biggest stars, the A list of pop culture relevance showed some awesome Alanis love. I have no clue why either of them would do this, but I love it and it’s crazy. SO, the obvious next question… who does it best?!

In honor of last night’s concert, here’s a video (not from the concert itself) of Kris doing a cover of Matchbox 20′s “Bright Lights” which is one of my FAVORITE Matchbox 20 songs. Its a random choice but it’s pretty damn awesome.

The folks obviously went in order from #10 to #1. First up was Michael Sarver who I had fully expected to bust out the country music but he opened the show with I’m “In Love With a Girl” by Gavin DeGraw and his other song was “Closer” by Ne-Yo. The first I believe he did on the show and his voice was really impressive, he has definitely been taking advantage of a vocal coach since he was voted off.

Next up was the crazy one, Megan Joy. I had lower than low expectations for her. On the show in the finals she was horrendous and I was not really looking forward to her performance. Wow did she surprise me, again she did one song she did on the show, ‘Put Your Records On’ by Corrine Bailey Rae which was awesome, again really cleaned up her vocals. I was shocked by how much I enjoyed it. As what I found would be a constant, she mumbled what her next song was, and of course I couldn’t understand a single word, but it was “Tears Dry on Their Own” by the amazingly crazy cracked out Amy Winehouse. Now I have publicly and constantly voiced my hatred towards Amy Winehouse. I loathed every second of “Rehab” and I can’t stand her being a part of the human race. With that said there are 2 of her songs I actually ENJOY. Yes, I said it… enjoy! One is “Back to Black” and the other is “Tears Dry On Their Own,” so I was pleased that this was on and enjoyed it significantly more than Amy’s version, I am not sure if this is because of Amy hatred, but Megan was really on her game and it looked like she was ACTUALLY TRYING, not like during the actual competition. To my surprise she was literally one of my favorites of the night.

Scott MacIntyre brought the excitement of the beginning of the concert to a screeching halt when he started his two song set with “Bend & Break” by Keane. I don’t love or hate Keane, but what a slow slow song that people don’t really know. Great way to kill the party Scott. Then Scott performed a crowd pleaser of Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles.” Now I could not resist the joke when the lyrics  are “I would walk a thousand miles if I could just see you” as the BLIND person sang it. Ironic and couldn’t go without a few chuckles. He did a good job though he did hit a puberty moment with a bad voice crack in what I assume was his attempt at a notable high note. No thanks, this will be the end of his big time music career.

Poor Lil Rounds definitely took a beating during the season as not having much of an identity. I didn’t really agree with the judges but she definitely picked the right songs for the show. She did a medly of “Be Without You” and “Just Fine” from Mary J. Blige which are 2 of my favs of Mary J and do hit my top songs of all time list, and her voice was on fire so she nailed it. Next was “No One” by Alicia Keys which again was a slam dunk. Lil Rounds had me until she whipped our her last song. Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) by Beyoncé. This song couldn’t be more annoying if it tried, PLUS it lasted about 10 minutes. I literally wanted to jam something in my ears to stop it. I am however pretending that didn’t happen so I can give props to some solid Lil performances.

Anoop Desai. You bore me. I have no love for my nicknamed “Apoop.” His set consisted of Always On My Mind, Ne-Yo’s “Mad” and “My Prerogative” (I STILL like Britney’s version the best). None of it was entertaining for me but if I only knew what was next. Matt Giraud. Song choices, horrendous. Voice, horrendous. He sang with some type of slur so the two songs I KNEW, The Fray’s “You Found Me” and “Georgia on My Mind” I couldn’t even clearly hear the words! But before those crowd un-pleasers he sang “Hard to Handle” by Otis Redding which I have never heard of and was utterly boring. Bye Matt.

This brought us to the intermission time so that means everyone who has performed comes out for some big production together.Megan & Lil sang “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” Scott & Matt did Billy Joel’s “Tell Her About It” with dueling pianos, and Michael got to do his own rendition of Elvis’ “Suspicious Minds” which was awesome. Anoop and the rest of the crew got back on stage for Beggin’ which is apparently a  Four Seasons/Madcon song. Never heard of it. They did a good job but not knowing the song kinda made it a little more anticlimactic for me.

Act 2 begins. I really am now just on my Kris high, ready for him to come on. My second favorite from the season Allison Iraheta kicked off part 2 with “So What” from Pink, Joplin’s “Cry Baby” and ended with Barracuda. She had amazing energy and she definitely kicked ass. Perfect songs for her voice and she definitely ruled the stage.

Danny Gokey wins the award for most random set with two songs that just DIDN’T belong and two he did fantastically. His delivery of all of them were good but “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” by Michael Jackson and “Maria Maria” by Santana were just REALLY bad song choices. WHO let him do this. Bad move Danny. The last two of his set were a dual run of Rascal Flatts songs, “What Hurts the Most” and “My Wish.” Both were spectacular. I wish he had a better first two songs but the ending was enjoyable.

No one expected me to like Adam Lambert at all. Not a second of it, and if you know me you would be certain to say that with out doubt. AAAAANNNND you’d be absolutely CORRECT. Adam was horrible. He hasn’t gotten the hint that he does NOT have to SCREAM for every song, he was dressed in a way that may give me nightmares and just did some horrendous songs and with his screaming I couldn’t really make much of them. I wont go into to much detail but this was his set list:
Whole Lotta Love, Led Zeppelin
Starlight, Muse
Mad World, Tears for Fears (I hated it the first two times, this made #3.)
Slow Ride, Foghat (with Allison Iraheta, THANK GOD, she made that 5 minutes somewhat barable)
Life on Mars/Fame/Let’s Dance, a David Bowie medly. The worst part of the entire evening was after ruining anything good about “Life on Mars” he ripped his studded floor length “diva coat” and STOMPED not even pranced, around the stage with a light blue feather boa to “Fame.” I could not hate you more Adam. Nope. Not a bit.

Finally. My time has come. Kris Allen. Breaking it down:
Kanye West, “Heartless”
The Killers, “All the Things That I’ve Done”
Bill Withers, “Ain’t No Sunshine”
Matchbox 20, “Bright Lights”
and lastly Hey Jude with the other 9 joining him at the end.

Phenomenal. His guitar playing, song choices, and most of all singing. The RIGHT MAN WON. He was great, and my bias doesn’t even matter. I loved it. I wish he would have performed ‘Falling Slowly” from the movie Once which was my favorite performance of his from the show, but he picked songs perfect for his voice, and RANDOM but songs I love and just killed it.

For the Group Idol Finale everyone burst into the ever so popular “Don’t Stop Believing” with a random sprinkle of “Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye” in the middle. From the year of Jordan Sparks, they really made a big deal for the very end for her as the winner, which wasn’t really the case so I felt Kris got jipped a bit, but all in all a great show!

1. So What- Pink definitely doesn’t show too much pain and emotion from her semi-recent break up with her husband (which apparently is back on, but we shall see). She claims it isnt an “FU” to her ex which isn’t quite believeable until he appeared in the video for the song. What I love about this song is that it really brings out the fun sing-a-long song that Pink is capable of that will stick in your head for hours at a time.

2. Sober-Proof that life can move on past the demise of love. Catchy pop songs that have a message and throw in some actual non fakey emotion always fall into my thumbs up category.

3. I Don’t Believe You- Now here’s the break-up ballad we were all expecting post break-up. The most surprising part of this song is that it actually shows off Pink’s vocal abilities. She’s mastered the fun party song market but this is definitely a beautiful ballad, one I definitely wouldn’t expect from Pink.

4. One Foot Wrong- Channeling her inner Janis Joplin, there’s not much to this song that really “binds” it together, I like the rocking feel but it’s a bit too slow and doesn’t really stand out to me, but it could be one that grows on you (but I am not counting on it)

5. Please Don’t Leave Me- I thought by the title this one would be the true ballad of the album, I think that the words could make its way into a more dramatic song, but doesn’t totally fail in its existence. With that said, I would have done this with piano and strings.

6. Bad Influence- This sounds like a leftover Britney Spears hand-me-down, meaning I love it. It doesn’t quite pack the Britney punch but it definitely is the perfect style for a fun Pink song, and one of my favorites on the album.

7. Funhouse- While I despise songs that spell or count things out, this is a catchy tune, and like the title suggests, is just fun.

8. Crystal Ball- This one sounds like an attempt at a country song after a long bender in Vegas. I would definitely leave this out when putting this album on my iPod.

9. Mean- This song within one and a half listens has stuck out as my absolute favorite of the album. I would be absolutely shocked if this didn’t end up as a single. It has a little Kelly Clarkson sound to it. Thumbs up on this one Pink!

10. It’s All Your Fault- This one seems like one just big example of a generic pop song, and its difficult to even make out the lyrics at time. I think they could have forgotten this one, or maybe it sounds better live?

11. Ave Mary A- Pink investigates the lower register in this song, but it’s definitely a catchy tune, not single worthy but it has a nice true personal touch which makes me love it.

12. Glitter In the Air- Too many metaphors. Too much thinking, especially for the last song.
